It's a marker, not makeup!

Punkin Jr. and I had a nice drive home. We talked most of the way while she colored in her coloring book. I’m not sure at what point everything got quiet in the car. I think I was trying to concentrate on those last few turns home and then getting the car in the correct spot in the driveway. I parked the car, turned the overhead light on and twisted around to say something to PJ. What greeted me was a smiling face covered in black marker. She had quite nicely colored in her lips and eyelids in lieu of a lipstick and eyeshadow brush, not to mention a little blush thrown in for good measure. Part of me wanted to laugh hysterically, but the other part of me realized that I had to be in “serious” mom mode. “That is a marker, NOT makeup,” I quipped. We hauled our school and work bags inside and I did what every parent must do at this point: I videotaped it!
PJ very nicely described what she had done while smiling mischievously. We then went to the bathroom to wash off her “makeup”. I didn’t yell, but remained calm the entire time. And now we have a glorious video to show her kids one day. Isn’t that what every potential grandparent would want?

Fancy Lady

This morning my daughter told me that I looked "fancy". Made me feel pretty special and that she noticed. I guess what made me fancy was that I was wearing a skirt and not pants. Apparently pants can NOT be fancy. When I was about her age — or a year or two older — I used to play ”Fancy Lady” with the girls next door. Guess I'm still "fancy”.

Baby, You Can Drive My Car

My daughter informed me this morning that when gets to be a really BIG girl she will drive MY car to the pool all by herself. Her dad and I have to stay home. She's only three and she's already making plans for MY car. OK. It's getting a little scary now.
